#20 Teaching Black History & understanding the issues the face black students
Celebrating cultural diversity is a part of creating global citizens who make a positive contribution to our world. Join me every week as I offer free workshop-style podcasts and many free downloads with resources and ideas for your culturally diverse classroom!
Tyrone Jefferson is our guest today and in fact the first Male
guest we have had on the podcast. He has performed and
recorded with musicians including James Brown, rap pioneers Public
Enemy, hip-hop artist L.L. Cool J and Gospel artist Heather
Hedley. Jefferson is currently the
Executive Director of A Sign of the Times of the Carolinas, a
non-profit dedicated to improving the community through cultural
productions and educational programs that positively reflect the
heritage of African Americans and is Music Director of the A Sign
of the Times Band.
In this episode Tyrone shares some of his
personal experiences with us along with his wisdom as a teacher on
how we can better reach our diverse students. You will also
get some fantastic resources you can use in your classroom.
With a focus on diverse learning, we offer you mini-workshops, tips, and resources to help teachers meet all students where they are and engage them to learn more!
