The VARK model with special guest, Music Teacher Gabrelle Licko
Celebrating cultural diversity is a part of creating global citizens who make a positive contribution to our world. Join me every week as I offer free workshop-style podcasts and many free downloads with resources and ideas for your culturally diverse classroom!
Today will will be learning about the VARK model. How to meet
all learning styles inside your classroom on a daily basis. We will
talk about the four types of learning styles and then we will help
you with ideas of how you can implement all styles into your lesson
plans.
Last week the podcast episode was all about cultural
recognition and I shared with you 8 ways to implement cultural
inclusivity in your classroom. So over the next few weeks I’ll be
diving in a bit deeper with each of these ways - consider them like
little mini workshops.
So if you didn’t listen to last week’s episode be sure to go
back and listen to #6 so that you can get the over all picture
before diving into these mini workshops.
We have with us today a VERY special guest, my mother! Mrs.
Licko was a music teacher in the classroom for over 30 years and
one of her favorite things to do in the classroom is teach to all
learning styles. So I thought she would be the perfect choice for
today’s interview!
Here are the four learning styles we are discussing in today’s
episode
Visual
Auditory
Reading/Writing Preference
Kinesthetic
Today we will break these down for you because they may sound
obvious, but there are some small nuances about these that are
important to point out.
